Where should I start, my kids are usually laughing all through the episodes from Horrible Histories (factual kids television show, based on the books by Terry Deary) from the moment it starts. It’s lively, informative and genuinely funny, if slightly gutter-obsessed but the movie fell a bit short on our expectations . They liked it but the impact wasn't the same. Though a good summer holidays watch for 9 to 12 year old. For me on the other hand , it was a OK. costumes were mediocre, acting a bit rough on the edges . It felt like a Bollywood movie with Roman dresses made out sarees and actors jumping at every chance to sing and dance. The bloodshed is largely and predictably kept to a minimum. A lot of reference to poo and and wee and lots of toilet jokes. Its mainly the story of scrawny, teenage Roman centurion, Atti (Sebastian Croft), and feisty Celtic proto-feminist Orla (Emilia Jones). Atti is smart and quick-witted Roman teenager but he manages to upset Emperor Nero with one of his schemes. For punishment, Atti is sent to work in a cold and wet Britain where he also meets the Celts.
