What Men Want
19th March 2019
I had high hopes for this film, having watched and enjoyed
‘What Women Want’ back in 2000 however, this film left me feeling a little
disappointed that I didn’t spend the whole film laughing.
That isn’t to say
that it wasn’t funny, there were definitely a few laughs to be had but it
didn’t deliver the side-splitting laughs that I had expected. Having said that,
it was an enjoyable film that was easy to watch, even if it was slightly predictable
at times.
The story follows businesswoman, Ali Davis (played by Taraji P.
Henson) on her quest to prove herself worthy of a promotion to her male
dominated workplace. Helped by a psychic at her friend’s bachelorette party,
she suddenly realises that the ‘gift’ of being able to hear men’s thoughts that
she’s been given, could work to her advantage.
Ali’s assistant, Brandon (played
by Josh Brener) adds an interesting perspective on Ali’s predominantly negative
relationship with men and his light-hearted humour throughout was a highlight
of the film for me.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie and I would recommend as an
easy-watch.
